Professional Profile
Peter Zaitsev have been active in Open Source and Database Community for more than two decades. One of early employees of MySQL AB, he later started Percona and bootstrapped it to over $50M/year business helping enterprises worldwide to push boundaries databases. Peter also co-founded Altinity, FerretDB and Coorot and served as Advisor, Investor and Mentor in a variety of Open Source and Infrastructure focused projects.
Peter is prolific conference speaker, speaking at more than 20 conferences a year and Co-author of O’Reilly book “High Performance MySQL”, one of the most respected books on the topic.
I’m also game any opportunity I have for Rock Climbing, Skiing, Scuba Diving, Canyoning, Caving, Rafting and exploring abandoned stuff
Adventurer Profile
Peter loves all kind of outdoor activities, but in particular those which are slightly on the wild side.
As a Mountaineer Peter climbed Aconcagua, Cotopaxi, Orizaba, Ararat, among others, Trekked Everest and K2 Basecamps.
Another Passion of Peter is Obstacle Course Racing (OCR), he runs several Spartan events a year as well as other OCR events, in particular focusing on long distance, endurance events. If there is no obstacles it is fine too - Peter loves trail running and sky running in particular half marathon to ultra marathon distances.

Peter is a founder of Geeks go Peaks Initiative.
