Mt. Ararat AKA Ağrı Dağı, which translates to “Mountain of Pain” – giving you fantastic bragging rights.
Ararat is a Dormant Volcano 5137m (16854ft) high located in Turkey. It offers great views and also is a mountain of great cultural significance! In practice, it is one of the easiest 5000m+ mountains you can climb and for summer climb you can do it with basic crampons and trekking poles (rentals provided) – no advanced mountaineering equipment required. The expedition takes 7 days (including arrival and departure), with only 4 days sleeping in the tents on the mountain. Istanbul International Airport has flights to a huge variety of destinations and from where you can take about 2h.
Peter Zaitsev's detailed adventure diary will tell you about how our climb to Ararat went.
"We climbed Mt Ararat in early September 2024 as a sizable group of 17 people. For many, it was their first attempt to summit a mountain exceeding 5000 meters..."
If you do not have extensive high altitude experience, lack of reference can be quite a problem – of course, you heard you’re expected to feel worse at Altitude, but how much? It can be a hard question to answer before it becomes too late...

There Is Something About Overcoming Difficulties Mountains Present… together
The Ararat climb organised by GeeksGoPeaks was the perfect adventure with great company in a naturally and historically stunning location. I'm already looking forward to the next one!

Just great! The main feeling is that it is a real achievement. That was my first 5000 and first multi-day mountain trip ever! It was easier physically than I expected (thanks to slow tempo). But I've got a headache from the attitude that I did not expect. All were friendly and helpful. 3d-print of Ararat is the best! Looking forward for the next trip!

The trip was better than I expected. The videos on Youtube do not reflect full wild experience you get during the trip. Before the trip I was a bit nervous, nit sure how I will handle the height and difficulty. After the trip I felt good, because all went well and most of the group achieved summit. I liked the itinerary and good company! I want to say big thanks! Ararat adventure was great and I will have great memories for life.

The climb was Amazing! A lot of network with very interesting people. Organisation was perfect. I didn't have experience in hiking and for me was quite important help with stuff before summit. I bought a lot of important things like jackets, thermal clothes. Sergey did a great work for my preparation to summit.

Plenty of opportunities to interact. Very well planned. Not difficult physically, but a bit mentally. Also highlighted the importance of proper gear. I now feel I can do more!

I enjoyed the trip very much, and more than just the breathtaking views of the nature and getting to know a new country, meeting new people that share the love for the mountains and technology was great.

It was an amazing trip with incredible people. Climbing a mountain over 5,000 meters was a first for me, and now I’m craving even more adventures.
